Heart of Gold

I got the inspiration for this piece after my visit to  Palazzo Colonna and the Capitoline Museums, both in the center of Rome. Huge rooms filled with art from floor to ceiling. At Palazzo Colonna I was immediately attracted to these painted fabrics on the ceiling, the colors, and the way they fell as if they were really made of cloth. I knew I was going to use them somehow. Then the lonely statue I found in the main patio of the Capitoline Museums, at first I didn’t give it much attention, but in the end it happened to be the perfect centerpiece for my new creation.
